ADAMS CENTER, NY -- An upcoming workshop on Building a Tiny House on Wheels promises to be a hands-on weekend of fun with tiny results and huge satisfaction!

The workshop is presented by Jim Juczak of Woodhenge Self Reliance Campus near Watertown, NY in conjunction with the Local Living Venture.

The event begins with an optional design session from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 6 and continues through the day on Saturday, culminating at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 8.

This class will show you how to “do it yourself” for your tiny kingdom on wheels! The workshop outline includes both design and building concepts, with full explanation provided.

The base frame and roof are already in place so that the project can be completed in a single weekend. There will be plenty of hands on work to finish it in, with a special focus on interior, systems, and finish work. More information can be found at the website bit.ly/TinyWorkshop.

Topics that will be covered include DOT regulations, building codes, ergonomics, basic wood framing, finish carpentry, solar electric power, basic electrical wiring for AC and DC power, basic plumbing supply and drains, composting toilets, finding land, and a special focus on scrounging supplies for keeping the budget in hand. There will be plenty of time for questions as well.

Presenter Jim Juczak is a former shop teacher of 25 years, living with his family at Woodhenge, a 55-acre intentional community shared with several other families, and featuring a number of building designs and off-grid living. Jim has written books and lectured on a wide variety of self reliance topics.

Juczak also consults on off-grid energy system design and specializes in deep-well solar pumps. His first book, The High Art and Subtle Science of Scrounging, has been in print since 2008. His second book, Water Supply Systems for the Homesteader, became available in 2011.

For this unique learning experience, a $125 general public, $225 couple/family of two, $50 student donation is requested to benefit Local Living Venture non-profit workshop creation. Free camping and some meals are provided, or contact the LLV for nearby lodgings.

An RSVP is needed to receive the workshop location. Contact either [email protected] or (315) 347-4223 with the workshop name, your name(s), phone numbers, and number in party. A confirmation message with all details, including directions, will be emailed within 24-48 hours.
