A Voice from the Eastern Door
SUNY Potsdam will host its sixth annual Suicide Awareness Walk on Saturday, Sept. 23, starting outside Thatcher Hall. Registration will open at 11 a.m., and the walk will begin promptly at noon.
The campus walk is sponsored by the College Counseling Center and the Jeffrey Kimball Foundation for Suicide Prevention and Awareness.
The walk will raise funds to support the foundation’s work at SUNY Potsdam and in the surrounding communities to save lives through prevention and awareness.
The rain location is in the Barrington Student Union. Free parking is available in Lots 11 and 12. Guests are welcome to register the day of the event. There is no fee to participate in the walk, but donations are welcome.
Following the walk, there will be a short ceremony featuring meaningful music from a SUNY Potsdam a cappella group, as well as light refreshments. Students and community members will be invited to speak or give readings.
If you have any questions about the Suicide Awareness Walk, please contact the SUNY Potsdam Counseling Center at (315) 267-2330. For more information, visit http://www.potsdam.edu/studentlife/counseling/suicideawareness.
