A'nowara'ko:wa Arena Thanks All For A Successful Summer

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s Dept. of Tehotiiennawa:kon - A’nowara’ko:wa Arena would like to thank all of our spring & summer clients who helped to make this an enjoyable, busy and active summer for our community and visitors.

Nia:wen kowa to the Akwesasne Minor Lacrosse, Akwesasne Junior Indians, Akwesasne Women Warriors, Akwesasne Masters, Akwesasne Roller Derby, Team Eastern Door & the North- Akwesasne Athletes, Akwesasne Soaring Eagles Volleyball Club, all MCA departments, Nation Building Program, Community Health Program, the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Association, the Akwesasne Business Expo, and the Akwesasne International Powwow for utilizing our facility. We would also like to welcome back our St. Regis Braves Senior Lacrosse. We are anxious to have you all back next year.

We would also like to express great appreciation to the staff of Tehotiiennawakon- Economic Development, Environment, Dept. of Technical Services, Executive Services, AMPS Association, Roy Delormier-C&R trucking and all others that have participated in arena fundraising, who have made it possible for upgrades to the facility and grounds. New taller glass is being installed, the pavilion was constructed, and purchases included new beverage machines, new retrofit to scoreboard, three community bulletin boards and the new Olympia ice resurfacer.

Our summer students started an Adirondack Chair Campaign, asking for community members to donate a plastic Adirondack chair to the arena that can be used for extra seating outside. The arena will continue this campaign until Sept. 16th. Your donation of an Adirondack chair is graciously appreciated.

We are preparing for a great 2017-18 fall and winter season. The administration office is moved to the second level near the manager’s office. The front desk office will be operated like a front desk reception. We have a new phone system with the following extensions:

Ext. 1: Manager - Kahnastatsi Jacobs

Ext. 2: Administration Assistant - Dana White

Ext. 3: Concession Coordinator - Ashley Point-Jacobs

The Concession menu will provide hot soups, sandwiches, fresh veggies, fresh salads & baked goods daily.

Arena maintenance will start their ice process Sept. 17th and the ice will be ready for all the ice fun on Sunday, October 1st, 2017 at 8:00 a.m.
