Prime Minister to host First Ministers' Meeting and meeting with National Indigenous leaders

September 7, 2017 (Ottawa, Ontario) The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, announced that he will host the First Ministers’ Meeting (FMM), including a meeting of First Ministers with national Indigenous leaders, in the National Capital Region on October 3, 2017.

Since the last FMM on December 9, 2016, federal, provincial, and territorial governments have been working closely together to implement the pan-Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change.

“Canada is making progress towards a true nation-to-nation, Inuit-Crown, and government-to-government relationship with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples in Canada. I look forward to meeting with Indigenous leaders and building on the real progress we have made toward renewing our relationship with Indigenous Peoples,” said Rt. Honourable Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada

At the FMM on October 3, First Ministers will discuss strong, sustainable economic growth that benefits everyone. The meeting with Indigenous leaders will focus on economic development in Indigenous communities.
