Troy Thompson Completes Quebec City Marathon for "Running Vs. Child Obesity"

District Chief Troy Thompson competed in the Quebec City Marathon to raise funds for his campaign "Running Vs. Child Obesity." The 20th edition of the SSQ Québec City Marathon was held on Sunday, August 27, 2017. The 42.2 km (26.3 mi.) marathon follows a point-to-point course, starting in Lévis and finishing in the Old Port of Quebec City. The 42K got underway at 7 a.m. on Sunday. According to Sportstats, more than 8,500 runners participated across all events in one of the few major races in Canada in August.

Chief Thompson raised 3,800$ to prevent and combat child obesity in Akwesasne. He finished the very difficult marathon 3.5 minutes better than his 2004 NYC Marathon time, finishing 395 out of 1,028 runners. He is currently training to compete in the Toronto Marathon in October.

This event is also sanctioned 'GOLD' by the Fédération québécoise d'athlétisme. Times recorded in the 42.2K event are accepted as qualifying times for the Boston Marathon.
