The 2017 season ended last week in dramatic fashion and almost in pitch darkness.
Last weekend I'd Tap That and War Party played till dusk. The game was tied 9-9 at the bottom of the sixth inning, but at dusk, I'd Tap That broke it open with four runs in the top of the seventh to hold onto the win.
Season awards were then handed out by League President Diane Lazore. Diane said, "I would like to start by thanking everyone for being a part of the Akwesasne Co-ed Softball League. This is our 5th year and thanks to all of you it has become a very successful league. I would like to say thank you to our league umps for giving up their Sunday, volunteering their time. They love the game so much that they are willing to stand alone to call a good game. I hope you all know how much you are appreciated and how needed you are in this league. Jim McDuck McDonald, Cully, Joe, Chris, Tony and Marlon."

This is the end of the season but there are several tournaments coming up. This weekend is the Lisa Lafrance Memorial tournament and Cheyenne Smoke tournament is set for the weekend of September 16-17 at the American Legion in Hogansburg. The Second Annual Snye Bums tournament will be the weekend of September 23.
