Peace Tree Trade Center Celebrates 25th Anniversary

On August 7th, 2017 the Peace Tree Trade Center celebrated its 25th anniversary with the community. The Department of Economic Development hosted the celebration, while the participating businesses located at the Peace Tree Trade Center also made it fun for everyone. The celebration began at 11 am, with bounce houses and a BBQ free to the community. Victoria Ransom was also on site, doing free face painting and temporary tattoos. Community members were invited to do a scavenger hunt around the Peace Tree Trade Center. Participating stores also had their own way of celebrating by doing raffles and draws and having special sales for the day.

There was no shortage of entertainment, DJ "Lone Wolf" White came and played his guitar and sang some songs to everyone in attendance. Babes Cosmetics had a booth set up outside of their shop, showcasing their products. Darius White also had a table set up, while giving away samples of his delicious and nutritious "Green Drink". The celebration went on until around 2 pm, which is when the draws for the scavenger hunt were done. Anyone who participated in the scavenger hunt was able to get their name in for a draw of three different prizes. The three prizes for the scavenger hunt was a $50 gift certificate to Cheyy's Place Café and Bakery in Tsi Snaihne, a $50 gift certificate to Thompson's Convenience Store and a $50 gift certificate to Three Feathers Café. The main idea to the scavenger hunt draw was to give someone a week's worth of lunch at one of the three locations, while encouraging the community to buy local.

The 25th Anniversary was definitely a great success, with plenty of families coming out to enjoy the day. Completing the day was: TNT Deli with delicious food, DJ White providing live entertainment, CKON's Reen Cook live broadcasting, Bounce N Bounce provided the bounce houses, and Sanitations Solutions provided the on-site porta-potty.

The three lucky winners from the scavenger hunt was Margaret George - Cheyy's Place Cafe and Bakery, Tyron Sharrow - Thompson's Convenience Store, and Allyah Thompson - Three Feather's Café.
