St. Boys Win 7th Annual Tina's Pride Tournament

The annual event went off without a hitch last weekend at the Louie E. King Memorial Ballfield in Hogansburg.

After two days of intense competition in the heat, and fine softball displays from our local athletes, the St. Boys took the title with a win over Big Boys.

Other teams were War Party, (3rd place), I'd Tap That, (4th place), Saints, (5th place) Lucky 13, (6th place), Dacobras, (7th place), Jug and the Bugs, (8th place), Balls and Bushes (9th place) and Bad News Bears (10th place). Most teams belong to the Akwesasne Co-Ed league, while others were thrown together for this tournament, which was in its seventh year.

The Tina's Pride Memorial Tournament is named in honor of Tina Thompson who lost her battle with cancer. Her family started the movement to raise money for awareness and to help out cancer survivors. Among other activities, Tina's Pride supports breast cancer walks and they also sponsored last years Ice Bucket challenge.
