A Voice from the Eastern Door
On July 25th, 2017 Salmon River Central School invited press and media to come and check out their new and improved auditorium. The tour started in the auditorium itself, with William "Bill" Seward, the audiovisual technician giving the tour. Natasha Jack, the School Business Executive and Angie Robert, the Assistant Superintendent accompanied Mr. Seward. Mr. Seward shared his journey to become Salmon River Central's Audio Visual Technician. When Mr. Seward first decided to come back to Salmon River, he knew what he wanted to do. He had to apply to become a bus driver to get his foot in the door of the auditorium. At first, Mr. Seward volunteered his time as the Audio Visual Technician. When Seward first started volunteering, the auditorium and control room were in poor condition. To view the before and after pictures of the newly renovated SRCS auditorium shows the improvements that were made. Students will be able to enjoy using the auditorium, which is much nicer than the average local movie theater.
This is the auditorium's first major update since the early 90's. The project is a part of the SRCS complete school remodeling, which was started in the fall time of 2016. The auditorium was completely finished and available to use since March 2017.
The students and staff of the school won't be the only ones to enjoy the auditorium - it has been opened this summer for movie showings turning it from an auditorium by day into a movie theater by night. All proceeds made by movie ticket sells will go towards the Salmon River Central School's Drama Department.
