Snake Island Muskies Fall to the Tyendinaga Thunderbirds

The Snake Island Muskies competed against the Tyendinaga Thunderbirds in a challenging match that ended in a 17-7 victory for the visiting Thunderbirds on June 29 at the Massena Arena.

Tyendinaga's Shayne Jackson scored the opening goal in just over 2 minutes in the first period. He was answered by a Muskies goal scored by Ross Cree. The Muskies managed two more goals in the first, while the Thunderbirds impressed with seven more goals. The Muskies had one goal in the second stanza and three in the third. The Thunderbirds recorded six more goals in the second and three in the final stanza.

Lee Thomas led the Muskies offensive effort with two goals and an assist. Justin Oakes, Dave Thomas and Cole Zeller scored one goal each. Aweniio David scored one and assisted a play. Tom Thomas had two assists. Grayson Phillips, Casey Swamp and Naylen Laffin each contributed a helper. Scott Thompson contributed to two plays. Ross Cree also recorded a single assist for the Muskies.

Shayne Jackson and Ky Tarbell led the Thunderbirds with three goals each. Jackson recorded three helpers and Tarbell recorded one. Haneh Brant showcased two goals, one of which was unassisted in the first period. Brant had one helper. Chris Attwood logged two goals and two helpers. Jordan Thomas notched an unassisted goal in the first period with a single assist. Tim Bergin, Mark Mathews, Seth Oakes and Ky Horn each recorded singles. Bergin contributed seven assists and Mathews six for the Thunderbirds win. Seth Oakes, Ryan Oakes and Ben Green also picked up two assists.

The Snake Island Muskies take on the Kahnawake Mohawks on Thursday, July 6 at 8 pm at the Massena Arena in a Quebec and Three Nations Senior Lacrosse League division match up. The Tyendinaga Thunderbirds are scheduled to travel to play the Caughnawaga Indians at the Kahnawake Sports Complex on Saturday, July 8 at 8 pm.
