C.C.V.S Grade 12 Graduation Ceremony

The Cornwall Collegiate Vocational School held its Grade 12 graduation ceremony on June 28th, 2017 at 7:00 pm. The ceremony began with the entrance of the graduates, while all their family members stood. Everyone remained standing for O Canada, which was beautifully sung by one of the graduates.

The Masters of Ceremonies Mr. Paul Chisholm and Ms. Jennifer Suggars then got up and spoke some words of encouragement. They went on to introduce Akwesasne Mohawk Board of Education's Director Donna Lahache, who also greeted everyone and gave the graduates some words of encouragement. Mr. Peter Garrow was then introduced on behalf of the Upper Canada District School Boards. Garrow is a Trustee representing Akwesasne and First Nations People and he also greeted everyone and gave everyone words of encouragement. Mr. Phil Dawes, Senior Administration of the Upper Canada District School Board was then introduced. He also greeted everyone and gave his words of encouragement.

Mr. Christian Boulay was then introduced to everyone as the Principal of CCVS. He greeted everyone and gave his words of encouragement. He then went on to do the presentation of Diplomas and Awards, with the help of the individuals who were introduced beforehand. There were many awards given out alongside the Diplomas. Many Akwesasne students were honoured not only with graduating high school, but also with awards for their outstanding accomplishments.

Some of the awards that were given out to students were: Akwesasne Mohawk Board of Education Award, Akwesasne Mohawk Board of Education Bursary, Akwesasne Economic Development Agency Award, Akwesasne International Powwow Scholarship, AMBE Involvement Award, Andrew W. Cook American Legion Post 1479 Scholarship, Bank of Montreal Aboriginal Bursary, CKON Communication Award, Dr. Danielle Dubuc, Optometrist Award, Kawehnoke Recreation Award, Mohawk Gaming Enterprise Scholarship, Mohawk Nation Citizen Award, Native North American Travelling College Award, Snye Recreation Community Service Award, St. Regis Recreation Involvement Award, Wade Lafrance Memorial Award and many more. Almost every student graduated with at least one award, if not several.
