A Voice from the Eastern Door
(June 27, 2017) On Saturday, June 17, 2017 the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service were on patrol in Tsi Snaihne when they were “flagged down” by a driver. The driver stated she had been assaulted by her ex-boyfriend and that he would not let her leave him.
Subject was interviewed. This matter is still under investigation.
On Sunday, June 18th, the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service was notified of a Domestic Assault, which occurred at a residence in Tsi Snaihne, Quebec. Officers attended and observed a female with injuries. A male was located and arrested without incident. The victim was taken to hospital by the Akwesasne Mohawk Ambulance.
The accused is still in custody and cannot be identified. This matter is still under investigation.
On Monday, June 26th, 2017, the Canada Border Services Agency Cornwall Port of Entry advised the Akwesasne Mohawk Police that they had detained Tracy Anne Oakes, aged 33, on an outstanding Warrant.
Subject was taken into custody. Warrant was for an incident which occurred on April 13th, 2016 in Kanatakon. Oakes is charged with the following:
Section 270(1)(a) “Assault Police Officer”, Section 430 (4) “Mischief”, and Section 129(a) “Obstruct Police”, all contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
Oakes appeared via video and was released on her own Recognizance on June 27th, 2017.
