Jr. B Indian's Founder's Cup Banner Raising

The Akwesasne Indian's big Founders Cup Championship win came full circle last Sunday as the championship banner signifying the best of Junior "B" lacrosse was given its permanent home at the Anowarako:wa Arena.

Former and present players of that championship squad came to the arena before the season finale against the Halton Hills Bulldogs.

Guest speakers included Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Chief Ron Lafrance Jr., Mohawk Council of Akwesasne District Chief Steve Thomas and Indians General Manager Roy Ledoux. They all talked about the importance of lacrosse and the pride of bringing home the National Championship.

The championship players were introduced – including Seth Oakes of the National Lacrosse League's Georgia Swarm, and they were led through a tunnel comprised of the Akwesasne Storm Peewee 1 team.

As DJ White performed a song in Mohawk, the banner was slowly raised and will soon be placed permanently alongside the Akwesasne Thunder President's Cup banner.
