MANFRED M. RANSOM

AKWESASNE – Mr. Manfred M. "Manny" Ransom, 69, of 378 State Route 37, unexpectedly passed away Wednesday morning, June 14, 2017 at his home.

Manny was born August 1, 1947 in Malone, the son of the late Noah M. and Sarah Jackson Ransom. He attended schools in Akwesasne and Schenectady. He was an ironworker with Local #711 in Montreal for several years. He also owned a rubbish and snowplow business and most recently he drove for Rob White.

Manny was an avid Ford Mustang lover, a Boston Bruins hockey fan, and enjoyed playing shuffleboard at the Rusty Wheel, going to car races and putting jigsaw puzzles together. He also loved mowing his lawn on his tractor and hanging out with this best friend, Eugene King. He was a communicant of St. Regis Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Akwesasne Death Benefits.

Manny is survived by his siblings, Angie Sunday, Sheila Ransom (Gary White), Sherri (Dale) Herne, Orlo (Alma) Ransom, Gordon and Noah "Jr." Ransom, all of Akwesasne; his chosen children, Ian and Joni Mitchell; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Nelson and Noreen Ransom.

Friends called at the home of his nephew and chosen son, Ian Mitchell on Friday and Saturday. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday at St. Regis Catholic Church with Rev. Jerome Pastores celebrating.
