Iohahi:io held an Open House on Thursday June 8th, 2017. Everyone who attended had the opportunity to apply for the upcoming fall courses, which are being offered at Iohahi:io by St. Lawrence College. Some of the upcoming courses are Business Accounting, General Arts & Science-Behavioral Psychology and Energy Systems Engineering Technology. Iohahi:io works with the others to figure where the highest demand in employment will be in the next several years, and they choose their courses accordingly. Other than having the opportunity to apply for college at Iohahi:io, everyone had the chance to explore the facility and meet some of the staff.
There were also recruitment officers from Algonquin College and St. Lawrence College set up at the open house. They were helpful and answered any questions anyone had, and had quite a few prospective students express interest in applying at either one of their campuses. So there were quite a few options made available to anyone who attended, they did not feel as if they had to choose the three courses being offered at Iohahi:io. It was great to see that everyone had to option to learn about what other colleges have to offer.
Norma Sunday from AMBE was also in attendance and was available to answer anyone's questions. She had all the necessary forms on hand that one would need to apply to college. Beatrice Johnson from AAMB was also in attendance and was ready to answer any questions that anyone might have had.
At the end of the open house there was quite a few prizes given out to anyone who had attended the open house. There was a lot of little prizes like sweatshirts, t-shirts, water bottles, pen sets, notebooks and little gift boxes. There were also three grand prizes given away, which were a kayak, an iPad and a Fitbit. There was such a great turnout, but for those that were not able to make, the deadline to apply for the three courses being offered in September is June 16th, 2017.
