A Voice from the Eastern Door
The River Institute and the OPG St. Lawrence Power Development Visitor Centre are joining forces to offer another free Science and Nature Workshop for the entire family at the Visitor Centre this Saturday, June 17th from 10 am to 2 pm in Cornwall.
“Critters and Rivers” will explore the St. Lawrence and all the critters, flying or floating, who call the River their home. Workshop Coordinator Josh Filion says, “We plan on having a lot of fun with “Paddling Puppeteer” and visiting musician from Peterborough, Glen Caradus.” “We also are also planning on providing some local marsh birds with a new home by teaching kids how to put together duck boxes!” adds River Institute Environmental Technician and wood worker, Jared Baker.
Other activities include netting and identifying local fish species with River Institute fish researchers, finding out the difference between beavers and muskrats, learning all about minnows and why they aren’t always small, and lots more. For more information on the day’s activities, visit the St. Lawrence Power Development Visitor Centre Facebook Page or go to http://www.riverinstitute.ca.
