WHAT DOES SELF GOVERNMENT MEAN?

You will lose all your rights.

When did you ever see a white man tell the truth?

Same like some of M.C.A. Chiefs lie to us?

I bet they do not remember in the 40’s and 50’s, when we couldn’t buy anything in N.Y. State and take it back to your home on the Canadian side?

Council doesn’t remember or know if you had a car with N.Y. plates you could not park at your house, you would have to park it on the U.S. side.

We make baskets; you have to sneak it to the states side to sell it, fish, same thing

Now that’s what self-government means, so think, so you want to go back to the 40’s and 50’s, no way.

Don’t forget this is your money, our money, not M.C.A., M.C.A. thinks they can do whatever they want. Because we don’t do anything about it. They are selling us out slowly, so we can still stop this if we come and fight.

So what should we do? Get the names of people that want self-government, since it’s our money, they used to do this work, go back a10 years and make them pay back everything. They spent on self-government, get rid of them, out of our land. They want to live like white people and pay taxes re: land, school, road, water, sewer etc. We should take away all their rights, all their band cards, health cards and let them pay for everything they wanted to do with their money, lets see how long they will last. If they want to be like white man, get them out of our lands and have them move to the city. Having them pay taxes and their own dental and pay for their children to go to school, so they get the feeling of self-government. The one’s that started this never left home. They don’t know what it’s like on the outside of our home, they never work anywhere but within M.C.A.
