AKWESASNE MOHAWK POLICE SEIZE OVER $300,000 IN DRUGS

(May 1, 2017) AKWESASNE – On Friday April 28, 2017, the Investigations Unit of the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service intercepted a vehicle on Cornwall Island suspected of transporting a large shipment of marihuana.

Police arrested one subject, a lone female, with possession of marihuana for the purpose of trafficking just shortly after midnight. The female was arrested without incident and transported to the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Headquarters for processing and was eventually released from custody.

A vehicle was also seized in relation to this investigation. The female will be summonsed to appear before the Cornwall Provincial Courts at a later date.

The suspect is not named in this release because AMPS has not filed charges before the courts yet. They expect to file formal charges later this week, at which point the subject can be named.
