A Voice from the Eastern Door
The Travelling College held an opening for their photography exhibit on Thursday April 20, 2017. This is the first exhibit of its kind to be held at the North Native American Travelling College. There was such a great turnout and interest for it, they are planning another exhibit of its kind in the future. So, if you did not get a chance to bring your photographs, you will have another chance. There isn't a set date on when the next photography exhibit will be, but there will definitely be one in the future. So, if you have one or ten photos it doesn't matter. The size does not matter, as long as it is ready to hang.
This exhibit will be on display for the next three months, until the end of June, providing plenty of time for the community to come and take a look at the talent of Akwesasne. All photographs were presented to the Travelling College ready to hang. With the help from local UPS Store in Akwesasne, a lot of photographs were printed on time and ready for display. The photographers range from amateurs to professionals, with one thing in common, the eye for taking beautiful photographs. Some photographers have agreed to sell their photographs, so if you see something you like you may be able to bring it home with you.
This exhibit has a total of 13 different photographers artwork. All the photographers are from or are residents of Akwesasne. Many of them were able to make it to the opening of the exhibit. This is a free exhibit, open to the public. So, if you get the chance, you should definitely stop in a take a look at all the amazing art that Akwesasne has to offer.
