TWO (2) FULL-TIME TERM POSITIONS (March 31, 2019) DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES

Salary Level: HS06 STEP 2-3; $42,330.06 - $44,023.27

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Family Well-Being Coordinator, the incumbent is responsible to provide women, children and men with education and counselling opportunities to address issues of domestic violence in a safe and therapeutic environment. The Family Well-Being Counselor will facilitate, plans, organized and conduct the Family Well-Being activities such as primary prevention, therapeutic interventions, support groups, enhance existing programs of identity, culture and healthy life and provide service and support to clients and families that are not able to access services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• University degree in the Social Field or two (2) years Social Service or equivalent diploma, and one (1) year experience in the social work field with an emphasis on domestic violence, mental health, addictions and crisis response,

• Experience working in a 24 hour crisis center is considered an asset,

• Ability to work flexible hours; evening shifts, weekends and holidays,

• Must have a clear driver’s abstract for the last 5 years.

SKILLS:

• Ability to work in crisis situations with children and families

• Analytical and problem solving skills
