Akwesasne Tri-District Elders Holds Quilt Show

On Saturday, March 18th, Akwesasne Tri-District Elders held their Quilt Show at the Kahwenoke Recreation Centre. The event took place most of the day and began with a showcase of all the quilted creations on display. All the quilts were made by local artisans of Akwesasne, and admission to this event was free. The event had a selection of door prizes, which included the grand prize for a Janome Sewing Machine. The event included a quilt making presentation by Michelle Rolfe, followed by a light lunch. In the afternoon, FAT quarter bingo was held. Guests were encouraged to bring various colors of fabric to play this version of bingo. This event was an excellent way to display the creations of local artisans, and give the deserved appreciate for their artistic efforts and talent, while also providing an afternoon of entertainment for the community.
