Akwesasne Holiday Helpers Say Niawen Ko:wa

The Akwesasne Holiday Helpers gives a huge Niawen ko:wa to all the donors and volunteers that helped throughout the many days it took to fundraise, sort food, count toys and gifts and put together over 1,000 holiday baskets that were distributed to the community. Not one food item, toy or gift was left over. Everything was needed and handed out.

Fundraising and volunteering are gentle arts of teaching the joy of giving...we had a great time working with everyone, from youth teams to a few elders that wanted to help out. There is nothing like the volunteer experience.

"It fills our hearts that we are able to bring this to the community," stated the Holiday Helpers. We just wanted to make sure that we do not go another day without saying, NIAWEN KO:WA – thank you very much. Everyone that came together to help is a sign that Akwesasne has so many loving and caring community members and businesses. It is remarkable to witness.

We will be wrapping up from all the events that took place; and, as promised, we will be providing a full report for the community in January.

We hope everyone had a safe and happy Christmas and New Year. Niawen ko:wa from the Akwesasne Holiday Helpers.
