ALEX ARQUETTE

AKWESASNE – After a lengthy illness, Mr. Alex Arquette, 73, of 29 Arquette Circle, peacefully passed away Wednesday evening, December 21, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.

Alex was born July 30, 1943 in Akwesasne, son of the late Louise A. and Ethel D. Cook Arquette. He attended Mohawk Schools and Salmon River Central School. On September 1, 1962, he married Diane Wood at St. Regis Catholic Church. The marriage later ended in divorce.

Alex was an ironworker with Local # 33 in Rochester. He was a communicant of St. Regis Catholic Church and a member of the Akwesasne Death Benefits Group. Alex cherished the time he was able to be outdoors mowing his lawn and doing landscaping. He loved time he spent with his family and friends, playing Radio Bingo and pull tabs.

Alex is survived by his children, Louie Arquette of Rochester, Lisa and Michael Phillips, Lynn and Alfred Laffin, Lane and Robin Arquette, all of Akwesasne; 9 grandchildren, Renee, Butch, Ashley, Wil, Jacob, Alexandria, Roxann, Morgan, and Linzy; 15 great grandchildren, Tyler, Travis, Gavin, Caden, Autumn, Destiny, Shade, Isabelle, Layla, Gabrielle, Natalia, Keena, Taho, Andy, and Etta. He is also survived by two sisters, Cecelia Laffin and Delina and Freddy Reyome, all of Rochester; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents Louis and Ethel, Alex was predeceased by an infant brother, Louis; and six sisters, June Ann Arquette on December 26, 1960; Mary F. Terrance on April 10, 2001; Ellen Marie Arquette at nine months; Alberta Linda Jacobs on December 3, 2009; Hilda Hackett in 2010; and Ann Terrance on June 23, 2015.

Friends called at the home of his daughter Lisa and Michael Phillips from Friday, Dec. 23 until Saturday, Dec. 24. A Mass of Christian burial was held Saturday at the St. Regis Catholic Church with Rev. Jerome Pastores celebrating.
