Massena Boys & Girls Basketball Teams Down St. Lawrence and Salmon River

The Massena girls and boys varsity basketball teams each claimed two wins during the week of Dec. 5.

Lexis Jacobs ended the two games with 13 total points and eight steals.

On Dec. 9, they skipped ahead 20-5 after one quarter and went on to beat hosts St. Lawrence Central 58-40.

Jacobs finished with five points. Novaleigh LeGrow scored a game-high 17 points, Sydnee Carroll 16, Octavia Viskovich seven, Al'lainya Dumas and Paige Perry four each, Alyssa Eubank three and Baylie Trumble and Erin McCarthy two each.

On the SLC side, Maggie Yandoh and Bailee Gauthier each scored eight points, Makiah Ramsdell six, Marissa McLean five, Evans and Leah Francis four each, Gabby Ramsdell three and Abby Lemieux two.

Three nights earlier, they won 40-33 against hosts Salmon River.

Massena had three players tally eight steals, including Jacobs, who also scored eight points, and Carroll (10 points) and LeGrow (five points, nine rebounds). Also, Perry scored two points, Trumble scored one and Eubank scored one with six caroms.

For Salmon, Nidia Dearmayero (12 rebounds) and Jillian Benedict (six rebounds, six steals) each scored 10 points. Dava Thompson recorded eight points, Tiffany Connors four and Wahsontiio one.

The boys team also beat Salmon River and St. Lawrence.

On Dec. 8 in Brasher Falls, Massena came out the victors 70-40. Massena had gained control by the second period, where they outscored SLC 20-7 for a 38-17 halftime lead.

Dante Viskovich scored a game-high 21 points. Kamren LeBier and Alex Rusaw each scored 10, Jacob Sheets and Josh Sheets seven each, James Donnelly five, Tyler McDonald and Andrew McMahon four and Tyler Bacon two.

For St. Lawrence, Cash Feeley scored 16 points, Kolby Perkins six, Cole Meacham four, Napadol Satthathip three, Carter Bordealeau two and Shiloh Winters one.

Three nights earlier in Fort Covington, Massena beat Salmon River 51-38 after running ahead 32-16 at halftime.

Viskovich scored 16 points, Josh Sheets 11, Bacon eight, Donnelly seven, Jacob Sheets six and McMahon three.

For Salmon, Ben Kelly scored 17 points, a game-high, followed by Myles Jacobs nine, Montana Cook seven, Kurt Leroux three and Konner Sunday two.
