AKWESASNE – Mrs. Elizabeth "Bessie" Cole, 78, of 400 Frogtown Road, unexpectedly passed away Sunday afternoon, December 11, 2016 at Massena Memorial Hospital.
Bessie was born January 14, 1938 in Cornwall, the daughter of the late Frank and Agnes Peters Roundpoint. On September 22, 1962, she married Gerald M. "Wishe" Cole at St. Regis Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Jacobs officiating. Wishe predeceased her on July 6, 2000.
Bessie was an Import Analyst for FW Myers Brokers in Rooseveltown, retiring after 27 years of service. After her retirement, she worked as a receptionist for Hart's Enterprise in Akwesasne. She was a communicant of St. Regis Catholic Church and was a member of both the Akwesasne Death Benefits Group and the St. Regis Mohawk Senior Citizens. She enjoyed watching all sports and was an avid NY Yankees baseball fan.
Bessie is survived by her children, Jamie Cole; Kelly and Louie Jackson; and Bryan and Stephanie Cole, all of Akwesasne; her grandchildren, Colby, Kristy, Dakota, Kori, Johnny, and Jack; her great grandchildren, Charlize, Ronin, Cydney, and Sammi; her chosen great grandchildren, Ryan Jr. and Warren; a chosen brother, Bruce and Irene Roundpoint of Cornwall; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Bessie was predeceased by three brothers, Gilbert, Wallace, and Ronald Roundpoint.
Friends called at the Donaldson Funeral Home on Tuesday. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday at St. Regis Catholic Church with Rev. Jerome Pastores celebrating. Cremation will follow.
