Alcohol/Chemical Dependency Prevention Program Kicks Off Red Ribbon Week

Last week the Akwesasne Alcohol/Chemical Dependency Prevention Program sponsored various events for Red Ribbon Week to promote healthy living and a drug free community. On Monday, October 24th, they held a Red Ribbon Awareness walk at Generations Park, Tewatahita Walking Trail to kick off the week's events. Walkers were able to enter their name into a draw to win one of three gift baskets. Each time they completed a lap they would get a ticket to enter the draw, and also got an extra entry if they wore red. There was also a wheel walkers could spin to win additional prizes. At the end of the night Tsionatiio Thompson was awarded the Halloween basket, Isabelle Smoke-Johnson was awarded the Family Game basket, and Janell Jackson was awarded the Coloring Basket.
