Julia Back, Board President of the Akwesasne Boys and Girls Club attended the Boys & Girls Clubs of America Northeast Leadership Conference in Manchester, New Hampshire on October 27, 2016. While there, Back was ready and poised to accept the Club's award for winning the Northeastern Regions Gold Level Award for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America League of Eagles in national recognition of the Board of directors achieving 95% of the key performance standards for strong boards.
As she was accepting the America League of Eagles on behalf of the ABGC Board, Back was also presented with Boys and Girls Club of America National Medallion "for unusually devoted service to boys and girls".
Nominated by Jessica Cree-Jock, ABGC Director, Back was totally unaware she was receiving this award until the presenter read a letter, "I was so surprised to receive this award. I didn't know until they announced my name. I was there for the ABGC Board, not for me."
The ABGC Board of Directors includes, Brendan White, Micaelee Horn, Theresa Cole, Dale White, PJ Burns, PJ Herne, Robert White, Troy Thompson, and Michael Conners Jr.
