SRMT Participate in Wear Purple Day and Red Ribbon Week

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS - Tribal staff participated in the national "Wear Purple Day" on October 20, 2016 to help bring awareness to domestic violence and available resources for those in need. Living a life free of abuse or violence is a right that all people deserve to have. The most difficult step in accessing help is often reaching out for the first time. The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe's Three Sisters Program wants families and individuals experiencing abuse to know they are not alone. FOR HELP, please call their toll-free hotline at 855-3SISTER, or (518) 358-4406 during normal business hours.

WEAR RED DAY - On Monday, October 25th tribal staff helped kick-off Red Ribbon Week by wearing red, a red ribbon shirt or dress. Sponsored by the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe's Alcohol/Chemical Dependency Prevention Program (A/CDP), the weeklong event includes daily themes to encourage everyone to live a drug-free life. The A/CDP Program increases awareness about chemical dependency and related issues while recognizing and respecting the cultural distinctions of the Akwesasne community by providing prevention services that promote a safe and healthy lifestyle for individuals, families and the community. For more information about A/CDP, please call (518) 358-2967.
