A Voice from the Eastern Door
Project Good Mind from the Akwesasne Mohawk Nation is excited to participate in
NB3FIT DAY: A National Day of Native Youth Health and Fitness on November 13th,
2016. Join us in engaging 10,000 Native American youth across the country in a shared day of physical activity and movement.
Project Good Mind is joining over 90 Native communities across the country to host a physical activity event on this day, which will be inspiring Native youth to be physically active and moving.
"It is important that we encourage and support our youth to be healthy and physically active," said Project Good Mind's planning committee of the 5k Fun Walk/Run.
There is no doubt that keeping children physically active helps children grow up at a healthy weight. Why is this important? Because today Native American children are facing an obesity epidemic that is setting them up for a life of significant health complications, including diabetes and heart disease. The good news is we can do something about it.
"TOGETHER, we can reverse this pattern and let our children know that we believe in them and that we encourage their health and fitness," said Justin Huenemann, President and CEO of the NB3 Foundation.
