A Voice from the Eastern Door
Born August 18, 1941 - Died October 11, 2016
Kaienteres began her journey to the Skyworld as she took her last breath surrounded by her family at her home. No more will we hear her laughter, her silliness and wisdom. It was always nice to be in the company of a kind, caring and giving woman. It seemed that her enjoyment in life was to ease and comfort the lives of others. Another pleasure she had in her life was to spend time with her 17 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Her children are Darren, Doris, Danielle, Daniel, and Darby, condolences to you all during this time.
She had touched the lives of so many people in so many ways. Kaienteres shared her vast knowledge of natural medicines to her family, youth and to people she didn't even know, her wish was to help them. When other people were in need of help for different reasons such as for the ice storm, fire victims, Bertha would be there ready to cook and to help them in any way. Bertha's friends were important to her as she would spend some of her mornings with the "Oatmeal Club".
Some people will most likely remember Kaienteres as a firm believer of the Great Law. She always took a stand to help uphold the rights of Native people.
Her dog Toya traveled with her all the time and her furry companion would wait patiently in the car as her Master needed to make a stop or two.
Kaienteres had a variety of job experiences during her life. She worked in a Potsdam Bakery, Twin Rivers Elementary School in Massena, and worked many years at Bears Den. She had proud memories of her successful achievement in her Boat Class Certification as well as her attendance in nursing school.
Death is never an easy time for families; let's keep them in our thoughts as they regain their strength with time.
