Massena's football and volleyball teams continue to trample this season, each adding wins and holding on to their respective perfect records.
Meanwhile the Massena Central School District inducted three teams and six individuals into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame.
New inductees are Tyler Coffin (2003), Erin Corcoran-Catanzarite (2003), Meghan Corcoran (2006), Jason LaBella (2000), Scott Manley (1985) and Bruce Serviss 1970.
Teams were the 1962 and 1963 baseball teams and the 1976-77 hockey team.
The 1962 baseball roster included Dick Ashley, Rick Alhfeld, Carl Baxter, Gary Brothers, Gary Donaldson, Mark Dougherty, Bruce Dunbar, Tom Hurley, Dick LeRoux, Steve Prince, Bob Slyman, John Stonecliff and Tom Stubbs, managers Kevin Newberry and Paul Pellegrino and Coach Paul Coombs.
The 1963 baseball team included Mike Barhardt, Carl Baxter, Gary Brothers, Tom Carney, Dick Castagnier, Gary Donaldson, Mark Dougherty, Tim Ellis, Gary Holmes, Terry LaBar, Joel Nicola, Darrell Paquin, Steve Prince, Ken Serviss, Tom Stubbs and Dale Wight, Manager Bob Fregoe and Coach Paul Coombs.
The 1976-77 hockey squadron included Dan Archambeault, Vic Bourdeau, David Cappione, Darrell Charland, Tom Cross, Frank Diagostino, Nick Dywan, John Hammill, John Hardy, Marty Johns, Chris Kormanyos, Tim Laurion, Brian LaVigne, Dan Montgomery, Greg Murray, Kevin O'Neil, Bruce Pichette, George Smith, John Sucese,
Mark Thomas and Coach Stan Moore.
The varsity football team held onto their perfect record with a nailbiter 44-42 win over Ogdensburg on Saturday, Oct. 1 at Mike Nicholas Field.
Michael Gardner caught five passes for 93 yards, including two touchdowns, and six tackles. Montana Pierce's efforts included four tackles, a fumble recovery and a 68-yard kickoff return.
Cedric Maurer passed for 208 yards with two touchdown passes.
Massena started to lose their footing towards the halftime marker. A fumble shortly before the buzzer led to an OFA touchdown on the last play of the half, which they followed with a touchdown on their first possession of the second half.
Massena re-captured the game with a two-yard touchdown run by Josh Cameron with 11:10 remaining in the final stanza. Maurer picked off a pass in the endzone about 3:30 later, then scampered 64 yards, setting up Gardner for a one-yard touchdown sprint, leaving the score at 44-35 with 6:57 on the clock.
Ogdensburg pulled off one more touchdown with 3:38 but weren't able to capitalize on the final possession of the contest.
The volleyball team won 3-0 against Potsdam on Thursday, Sept. 29. They claimed the three sets 25-21, 25-18 and 25-21.
Jenna Tarbell served up 12 points. Tianna Back logged 11 service points. Tatum LaFrance and Mckenzee Lazore served eight points each. Alyssa Eubank fashioned seven kills and two blocks.
The boys soccer team recently took a win and a loss. They blanked Salmon River 2-0 on Friday, Sept. 30 and fell 3-1 to Potsdam on Tuesday, Sept. 27.
