Akwesasne Communication Society Annual Meeting

There will be three seats open on the Board of Directors, and an election will be held on September 21, 2016 and voting taking place from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Hogansburg-Akwesasne Volunteer Fire Department on Route 37 in Akwesasne to fill three seats for 3 three-year terms.

The Akwesasne Communication Society Annual General Assembly agenda will be as follows:

2) Introduction of the Akwesasne Communication Society Board of Directors

3) Minutes of 2015 Annual General Assembly

4) Presentation of the Audit

• 2015-2016

5) Election of Board of Directors

• Announcement of election results

• Appointment of Executive Committee

6) Other Business

• Update on Bylaw amendments

7) Adjournment

Board of Director Responsibilities: The Board of Directors provides oversight for the 97.3 CKON radio station. They develop and ensure policies are followed. They also ensure financial transparency to the community of Akwesasne.

If a community member is interested in submitting their name for nomination as a Director of the Akwesasne Communication Society, please pick up an application at the CKON radio station. Completed applications may be submitted to Diane McDonald at the radio station or electronically by e-mail. The deadline for submitting completed applications is September 9, 2016 at 11:59pm.

Voter Eligibility – To be eligible to vote at the Annual General Assembly to elect candidates to the Akwesasne Communication Society Board of Directors, individuals at the time of voting must:

a) Be at least eighteen (18) years of age;

b) Be an Akwesasne community member, as evidence with possession of either a:

a. Red Card

b. Certificate of Indian Status Card;

c. Tribal Identification Card; or

d. Other proof of residency.
