AKWESASNE – Mrs. Priscilla A. Herne, "Bulla", 48, of 195 Cook Road, peacefully passed away Tuesday morning, August 23, 2016 at her home after a lengthy illness.
Bulla was born May 12, 1968 in Cornwall, the daughter of the late Louis W. Sr. and Phyllis M. Adams Lazore. She graduated from General Vanier and later from St. Lawrence College. She also took courses through the University of Michigan High Scope program for Early Childhood Education. On May 25, 2013, she married Joseph M. Herne at their home with Lisa Jock, officiating.
Bulla worked for many years with Akwesasne Child Care through the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne. She later worked for the Skana Program in Windsor, Ontario until having to retire due to her medical illnesses. Bulla was a member of the Akwesasne Death Benefits Group and a communicant of St. Regis Catholic Church. She was an avid volleyball player and truly enjoyed watching the kids play sports. She also enjoyed riding her motorcycle, playing with her grandchildren, and going to the casino.
Bulla is survived by her husband, Joe; her step-children, Heather Herne of Plattsburgh; Amanda Herne of Akwesasne; and Keith Herne and his companion, Jowelle Smoke-Ramirez of Akwesasne; and her step grandchildren, Kloey, Kaleb, Emberly, Bridget, Kohl, Guinevere and Korie.
She is also survived by her sisters, Stephanie and Bryan Cole and Tanya and Jay Square of Snye, Quebec; her nieces and nephews, Tanner Jock, Dakota, Taronhiorens, and Mara Lazore, and Serraphina Square; and a great niece, Adalynn Bero.
In addition to her parents, Bulla is predeceased by her brother, Louie W. "Jombay" Lazore, Jr. on March 3, 2006 and a stepson, Cory Herne on August 7, 2008.
Friends may call at her home, 195 Cook Road, beginning 7:00 PM Thursday until 1:00 PM Saturday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday 2:00 PM at St. Regis Catholic Church with Rev. John L. Downs, celebrating. Cremation will follow.
