Lacrosse fans had a last chance to watch some playoff action at the Anowarako:wa Arena. There were some local players but the teams were from out of town.
The Three Nations Lacrosse League semi-finals had Tyendinaga meeting the Caughnawaga Indians in a neutral site game last Saturday.
The Capital Region Axemen are playing the Kahnawake Mohawks at the Kahnawake Arena so Tyendinaga and the Caughnawaga Indians moved their games three and four if necessary to Cornwall Island.
Tyendinaga held a 2-0 series lead and that game four was not needed as Tyendinaga rolled to a 19-7 win to clinch the best-of-five series 3-0.
Hoodais Maracle led Tyendinaga with ten points on five goals and five assists. Haneh Brant scored four with two assists, Tim Bergin scored a hat trick with four assists while Tony Doxtator, Jordan Thomas and Tim Bergin each scored twice. With one apiece were Kedoh Hill, Kyle Alylesworth and Austin Maracle.
Angus Laborgne led Caughnawaga with four goals and one assist. Sam Norton scored two and three assists and local pickup Hakta Garrow scored once. Another local player was Ross Cree.
For Tyendinaga local goalie Trey Adams, Trent Jacobs and Joe Hall dressed.
Each team traded goals to start the game and it stayed even until Tyendinaga started to pull away at the end of the opening period to lead 8-5.
But the wheels fell off Caughnawaga's season and they were outscored 11-2 in the second and third period combined.
Tyendinaga now meets the winner of Capital Region Axemen and Kahnawake Mohawks
