TARBELL MANAGEMENT GROUP SENDS THREE AKWESASNE BOYS & GIRLS CLUB MEMBERS TO TIM HORTON CAMP

On Sunday, July 31, 2016, Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club (ABGC) members Avery Oakes, Avery Thompson-Francis and Kobryn Burns boarded a bus to Tim Horton Camp. For the last three years the Tarbell Management Group (TMG) has partnered with the Club to provide children with the opportunity to attend Tim Horton Camp. Sponsored by the Tim Horton Children's Foundation, this year's campers are off to Onondaga Farms in Western Ontario. The summer camp session is ten days in duration. The Foundation covers all costs for each child including transportation, equipment for camp programs, food and lodging.

"A huge thank you to TMG for being such a valuable supporter of the Boys & Girls Club and the youth we serve. The experience the youth receive from camp is a once in a lifetime opportunity and previous campers continue to share their stories!" added ABGC Executive Director Jessica Cree Jock. This year marks the third year that our community children were able to participate in this exciting opportunity.

Each club member that was interested in going to camp had to write a letter to ABGC Program Manager, Nik Skidders on why they wanted to go to camp. This year Ms. Skidders received over twenty letters of interest. Due to the enormous task of choosing which children would attend the ABGC staff decided to send an additional two youth to 4H Camp Overlook! This was made possible by donations made by individuals and businesses. Additionally the Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club Board of Directors made personal contributions to ensure that all campers had everything they needed for camp including duffle bags, towels, sleeping bags and clothing.

Tim Horton Onondaga Farms opened in June 2002 on 400 acres of rolling hills and wetlands in St. George, Ontario. With a focus on agriculture and the environment, the camp introduces campers to sustainable food production and nature conservation through a partnership with Ducks Unlimited. The youth will also enjoy the many outdoor and indoor amenities such as an outdoor swimming pool, high and low ropes course; climbing tower, orienteering course, canoeing, kayaking, outdoor theatre, campfire area, observation dome, computer lab, photography lab, creative art lab, and comfortable bunkhouses!
