BUS MONITOR
SALARY: 11.25 per hour+4%
Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Transportation Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for providing assistance to the bus driver in keeping the students safe while in transit and when getting on and off the bus.
Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent life experience; Must be friendly and courteous, and have the ability to establish a good relationship with children, bus driver, and School personnel; Must have good communication skills both verbal and written, must be able to communicate with the students, bus driver, parents, and school principal as required. Must have own transportation to designated pick up points.
Tasks: Monitor student behavior for the purpose of preventing distractions to the bus driver, injury to themselves, or other students/passengers; Assists students on and off the bus; prepares necessary documentation when required, such as school bus incident reports; Assists the bus driver in the implementation of the bus rules and regulations; Provides positive discipline and guidance for students; Assists the bus driver with keeping the bus clean; Ensures that students treat others with respect; Ensures students remain safely seated while bus is in motion; Must be a team player; Adheres to the Mandated Reporting requirements of the Child and Family Services Act, (CFSA), section 72.
