Braves Finish Season 13-8

The St. Regis Braves finished their 2016 regular season on a high note, claiming a 13-8 win over the Tyendinaga Wolfpack.

The teams met on the Braves' home turf, Massena Arena, on July 21.

The match opened with a close first period, but the Braves ran away with the game in the middle stanza and never looked back, despite being outscored in the closing frame.

Zach Hopps got things started at 3:23 in the opening period with an unassisted goal. But the Wolfpack responded with three straight markers, one from Haneh Brant followed by two from Kedeh Hill, leaving the score at 3-1 with just under 10 minutes in the stanza. Respective assists went to Tony Doxtator, Chad Thompson and Trey Adams. The Braves managed to tie things up before the buzzer, thanks to two goals in the 15th minute in less than 30 seconds from John Jacobs unassisted and Tyson Square, assisted by Day and Derek Hopps.

The second period was all Braves, essentially winning the game before the frame ended. Tyson Square scored twice, as did Day and Derek Hopps, and Seth Oakes scored a trio of goals. Ky Tarbell was credited with seven assists in the second period, along with two for Derek Hopps and one apiece to Tevin Terrance, Jarett Jacobs and Zach Hopps. Hill scored all three second-period Tyendinaga goals, with two assists from Doxtator and one each from Tim Bergin and Isaac Maracle.

In the third period, the teams traded goals, with Tyendinaga outscoring St. Regis, but it wasn't enough to produce a win. Braves goals were generated by Tarbell and Seth Oakes, with assists going to Zach Hopps, Tarbell and Day. Wolfpack goals came from the sticks of Brant, Bergin and Hill, with two assists from Cain Brown and solo helpers from Greg Reilly and Jordan Thomas.

Tory Bigtree added a win to his record for the Braves. The Wolfpack's Trey Adams was credited a loss.

Ky Tarbell was the game's points leader, with one goal and seven assists. Seth Oakes scored four goals. Zach Hopps had one goal and three assists. Dalston Day had two goals and a helper. Derek Hopps fashioned one goal and two assists. Tyson Square scored twice. John Jacobs scored one goal. Solo helpers came from Tevin Terrance and Jarett Jacobs.

On the Wolfpack side, Hill scored six goals and Brant scored two. Bergin had a goal and an assist. Doxtator assisted three plays. Brown had two helpers. Single assists were credited to Reilly, Maracle, Thompson, Thomas and Adams.
