Tribal Court Conducts Survey on Criminal Justice System

Akwesasne, NY — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Court announced the release of a community survey to examine the role of the criminal justice system in relation to the Saint Regis Mohawk Indian Reservation. The survey is part of a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice that commissioned a report for the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Court, titled “Assessment of the Criminal Justice System on the St. Regis Mohawk Indian Reservation.”

The survey is comprised of 66 questions and is not designed to be a referendum on the criminal justice system. As a result, it has no legal bearing on any future actions of the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Court. Its primary purpose is to solely gauge the community’s general feelings on crime in the community and interactions with criminal justice agencies.

The survey will last until August 6, 2016 and can be completed at the following link: http://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/2927694/Saint-Regis-Mohawk-Tribal-Court-Criminal-Justice-Survey.
