A Voice from the Eastern Door
As most of you that didn’t know, Everett Lazore (Big E) took a mild heart attack the day before Easter. He was hospitalized for almost three weeks at the Cornwall Community Hospital. Doctors there had sent him for testing at the Ottawa Heart Instutute were an angiogram was performed. The angiogram had shown that Everett had two coronary artery blockages, one was at a 70% blockage and the second was at a 98% blockage.
While there at the Ottawa Heart Institute the Doctors decided to do an angioplasty procedure right away where Everett had one stent installed. He was sent back to the Ottawa Heart Institute a week later for a second angiogram and angioplasty procedure where the Doctors decided to install two stents in one of his coronary arteries, which gives him a total of three stents.
He was able to come home two days later with restrictions. Everett now has to live a different lifestyle then what he is used to. It was hard for him at first because he couldn’t drive for ten days, his diet had to change greatly, couldn’t lift anything over ten pounds, and had to learn how to relax and not to get stressed out, and with a guy like him, how is that possible?
He was told he couldn’t play sports anymore, has to take it easy from now on and carries nitrogen with him at all times. He is now doing rehabilitation two days a week to help him get back as much normalcy in his life as possible.
Everett, Sandi and Kreedence would like to send out there BIGGEST gratitude and love to family, friends and community members who came full circle to show help and support to Everett (Big E) in any way. We don’t want this to go unnoticed, if you came to visit at the hospital, his home, seen him somewhere and gave a hug or a card….THANK YOU and you all know who you are! Thank you for being there at his time of need when he needed you all the most. We are forever grateful and will look at this community through different eyes.
On Mother’s Day there was a benefit breakfast held in his honour at Brass Horse. Everett, Sandi and Kreedence would like to thank all those who took the time out of their busy lives that helped out in any way to make it possible……
