Sheila Loran Appointed to Tribal Election Board

Akwesasne, NY - Shelia Loran became the newest appointee to the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe's Election Board after an informal ceremony held in the Community Building Lobby on Friday, Onerahtohkó:wa/May 13, 2016. Tribal Clerk Betty Roundpoint administered the oath of office to Loran following the Tribal Council's appointment pursuant to Tribal Council Resolution #2016-32.

In accordance with the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe Election and Referendum Ordinance (amended on April 2, 2013), the Election Board is comprised of three (3) members: Katrina Jacobs, Bryan Garrow and now Sheila Loran. Wendy Adams resigned from the Election Board following her nomination for Tribal Sub-Chief at the May 7th Tribal Caucus.

To serve on the Election Board, individuals are appointed by the Tribal Council for 3-year terms and must meet the criteria of an eligible voter. They must be at least eighteen (18) years of age, be an enrolled member of the Tribe, reside in the United States for at least six months immediately prior to the election, and have their name on the most current eligible voters list.

The Election Board members ensure, direct and manage the security and integrity of caucus, elections and referendums in accordance with the Election and Referendum Ordinance.
