Utica College Pioneers Earn Two Wins

UTICA, NY- The Utica College women's lacrosse team got back on track Saturday as it topped host Houghton College 15-4 in Empire 8 Conference action Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers outscored the Highlanders 11-2 in the second half to pick up their second E8 victory of the season. Showing persistence pays off Junior Tewasherake Barnes (Akwesasne, NY/Salmon River) scored her first goal of the season after two attempts on the net. Barnes also worked in several turnovers for the Pioneers. On Sunday, the Utica College women's lacrosse team scored the game's first 12 goals as it cruised to a 17-7 victory over host Alfred University in Empire 8 Conference action. Barnes continued with another strong game netting several ground balls, pick up and capping a draw control. With the win, the Pioneers improve to 8-5 overall and 3-2 in the E8.
