A Voice from the Eastern Door
The flag drops for local racing fans in just a few weeks. Mohawk International Raceway in Frogtown and the Cornwall Motor Speedway open their gates in early May.
Traditionally MIR races are every Friday night with the season starting on May 13th, but a week earlier, on Saturday, May 7, MIR is holding their Test and Tuner night and admission is free that night. Their first official race is on May 13 and the Akwesasne Boys & Girls Club and Bailey Motors sponsor the night's racing. Bailey Motors of Malone is the season sponsor for the 350 Modified Series. In the past the 350 Modified Series was three separate 50-lap nights, but for the 2016 season there will be four races, with two being held on the night of the season opener. The other two races for the 350 series are on July 1 (50 lap Syracuse Qualifier) and August 19 with a 30-lap race.
On Friday, May 15 the Cornwall Motor Speedway opens with the Bank Of Montreal's 100 Lap Race For The Cure Sportsman Series.
Both venues have had big overhauls for the 2016 season and an exciting summer of local racing is in store.
