Teams from Massena, Plattsburgh and Saranac Lake came to Fort Covington last weekend to play against the host Shamrocks, but Plattsburgh took home the medal.
The Under 14 tournament was supposed to have an added Under 12 section, but there were a lack of teams and Canton and North Franklin played each other in that.
In the semi-final game the North Franklin Under 14 team had a 3-0 lead over Massena. Alexis Seymour, Ella Oakes and Brycelan Sunday scored those, but in the late stages of the game they got hit with some penalties and Massena pulled their goalie. On a 6 on 4 powerplay Massena's Abigail Johnston netted one to make it 3-1 and they threatened to catch up. NF even hit the post on that empty cage but the Shamrocks held on for the win and a berth to the championship.
In that final against eventual champion Plattsburgh it was reversed as the visitors jumped to a 3-0 lead, but the Shamrocks could not score and won second place.
This was the second meeting of the tournament between the two and North Franklin won that first game 2-0 on goals from Seymour and Sunday.
