SRCS Basketball, Cheerleading Celebrate Seniors

The Salmon River boys and girls varsity basketball teams honored their seniors last week during the last home game of the regular season.

The Shamrock boys hosted Ogdensburg on Tuesday, February 2nd, but fell to the Blue Devils, 31-63.

The Blue Devils ran out to an early 25-5 lead by the end of the first quarter and were ahead 39-15 by half time before closing out the game with a 63-31win.

Kurt Leroux led the Shamrocks with 10 points followed by seniors Jordan Bigness with eight and Travis Thompson with four. Senior Antoine Domino, Ben Kelly and Myles Jacobs each contributed three points to the Shamrock effort.

Cale Sargent netted six three-pointers to fashion a game high 20 points for OFA. Peyton Lalone added 16 points while Connor Badlam tossed through 11. Anthoni Pope had six, Will Kroeger put through four, Allen Fisher had two and Matt Rector chipped in one.

Salmon River plays its last regular season game on Friday at Potsdam.

The graduating seniors who were honored are Antoine Domino, Allen Jacobs, Zach Smith, Rasentonkwa Tarbell and Travis Tarbell. There are also three senior cheerleaders that were recognized, Shayla Bender, Cheyenne Boardway and Diondra Dyer.

Girls Basketball

The Lady Shamrocks celebrated the hard work and dedication of five seniors: Kearin Adams, Makayla Bigtree, Brittany Brooks, Brittany George and Kera Ghostlaw.

The last game of the regular season the Lady Shamrocks hosted Potsdam where the Lady Sandstoners worked their way to a close 17-11 game heading into the locker room.

Potsdam held on to the lead to end with a 37-29 win. Hunter Wilson and Alexis Peterson led the Lady Sandstoners with 10 points apiece followed by Katie Cary with seven. Kayla Phillips and Mara Vaccaro each added five points.

Senior Brittany Brooks led all scorers with 13 points while Lauren Martin fired through nine. Senior Kera Ghostlaw netted nine points while Tiffany Connors chipped in two for the Lady Shamrocks.
