CANADIAN RESTRICTED FIREARMS SAFETY COURSE

The Akwesasne Justice Department Conservation Program will be hosting a three (3) day Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course for anyone who wishes to get their restricted license. This course is for persons who wish to possess and/or own restricted firearms in Canada.

We have contacted an instructor Fredrick Guse. Mr. Guse is certified by the Chief Firearms Office to teach the non-restricted and restricted firearms safety course. He will hold the course at the HAVFD Fire Hall on Cornwall Island on March 4th (1pm-4pm) and March 5th and 6th (8am-5pm) 2016.

Registration will be given to the first ten (10) applicants on a first come first serve basis. The deadline to apply is February 16th 2016 at 4:00pm. Payments for the course will be taken in cash ONLY on the morning of the course. A $40.00 non-refundable deposit must be submitted to Brett Gambill by 4:00pm on February 16, 2016 in order to be registered. The $40.00 deposit will be deducted from the total cost of the course.

The cost for the course is as follows:

Canadian Firearm Safety Course (CFSC) 8-10 hours and Test: $150.00 + $15.75 (for course manual). For persons who wish to take only the non-restricted safety course, they only need to attend two (2) days of training NOT all three (3).

Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course (CRFSC) 8-10 hours and Test: $150.00 + $15.75 (for course manual). For persons who want just the restricted safety course, they need to attend all three (3) days of the course and MUST already possess a “Possession and Acquisition License” (PAL).

Both Canadian Firearms Safety Course and Restricted Firearms Safety Course (Includes both tests and minimum 12 hours classroom instruction): $260.00 + $31.50 (for two (2) separate manuals). For persons who wish to take the all in one course, they need to attend all three (3) days of training.

Registered persons must bring one (1) piece of Canadian Identification on the day of the course. A Canadian Status card or Canadian Driver’s License are both acceptable.
