The Wallace Jacobs Memorial Shuffleboard Tournament - Turkey Shoot 2015 Benefits the Akwesasne Epilepsy Support Group For a Second Consecutive Year

Akwesasne-On Saturday, November 21st, the family of the late Wallace Jacobs Sr. had their 2nd Annual Memorial Shuffleboard Tournament-Turkey Shoot held at the American Legion Post 1479. The tournament is to honour Wally and the love he had for the game of shuffleboard. This is also the second year the tournament has donated to the Akwesasne Epilepsy Support Group. The group was founded by Wally's grandson Carson who suffers from epilepsy.

The tournament got underway with 32 players registered to make 16 teams! A lot of friends and family came out to play and were treated to a delicious pulled pork dinner with all the fixings and some door prizes throughout the day! DJ Bryan 'The Blues Man' Garrow played awesome tunes into the night for everyone's entertainment! Everyone was able to get in on the Mohawk auction that had 24 baskets and prizes.

After a long day of fun and sometimes competitive shuffleboard games, the final match was played and Karis David & Mel Felix came out on top as this year's 1st place winners! Second place went to David Wood & Simon Cole! All four each received a holiday Turkey, in true tradition of the "Turkey Shoot"! Third place went to Diane Boots & Alyson Thompson who each received a holiday ham. All the players were put into a draw for a pair of NHL Hockey tickets and these were won by Tevin Terrance!

The Jacobs family would like to thank everyone who came out to play on Saturday! It was wonderful to see everyone having so much fun and they know Wally would be proud of the event's success. Thank you to all who bought tickets for the silent auction and to everyone who made a basket or item donation. Also thanks to everyone who helped out in some way because we couldn't have done it without you! They hope to see everyone again next year!
