A Voice from the Eastern Door
On Monday, November 23, 2015 the St. Regis Rec Dance Club held their Fall Recital in the Auditorium of Salmon River Central.
The auditorium was filled to capacity!
The recital "All That Glitter," was about honoring legends, and Dance Teacher Jonel Beauvais began the event with a speech honoring Laura Thompson.
"Laura is a legend. She makes a change in her community and makes people feel like family."
Jonel talked about all the hard work Laura has done for the dance club. "There is a lack of resources for dance and the arts in Akwesasne and because of Laura's hard work, you get to live this experience."
The Fall 2015 Dance Teachers included Teneya Mitchell, Kierstyn Sunday, Kelsee Sunday, Courtney Oakes, Tsionatiio Thompson, Jonel Beauvais, Wrani Sunday, Laura Thompson, Justine Mitchell, Kaylin Oakes, Waverli Thompson, Abby Mitchell, Kevin "Big Boy" Lazore and Iekwenienstha Mitchell.
There were 11 acts on the program, from 3 year olds to 11 year olds, and there's no doubt that with every dance season the program gets better and better.
The St. Regis Rec Dance Club would like to give Special thanks to:
