The holiday season is just as much about giving as buying. Back again this year, Syracuse funeral director Jan Maloff is operating the CNY Family Bicycle Giveaway to collect unwanted bicycles for families and children, an effort that began about 20 years ago. Then, he received 175 bikes that were repaired and donated to families in need. Now, the bike drive is run through a non-profit organization and can garner more than 2,500 bikes a year. On the Saturday before Christmas, those bikes will be given away. Anyone with a bike to donate can bring it to the International Building, where it will be checked and repaired.
