MCA Reconfirms Support for Antoine Delormier

In a Kawehnoke District meeting held at the Recreation Center, district Chiefs Troy Thompson, Vince Thompson and Dennis Chaussi reconfirmed their support of Antoine Delormier and the brutal treatment he received in his attempt to reach medical treatment at the hospital on September 29, 2015.

According to Chief Dennis Chaussi, there is a process in motion and a full investigation is in process, as well, the Director has been removed from the Cornwall CBSA station and he hopes the officers who subjected Mr. Delormier to such brutal treatment are being transferred as well. Chief Dennis Chaussi stated, "We are very upset about this, we all were. We want justice for Antoine Delormier."

A peaceful protest was held last Saturday at the CBSA Cornwall Station and another protest will be held again this Saturday, October 24, 2015 at noon. Organizers of the rally have clear goals in mind.

"The purpose of the get together is to put an end to Akwesasne's apartheid and to get justice for our elder who was harassed at the CBSA port of entry while he was driving himself to the hospital. An example needs to be made. Community members want a new system of checking in and our mobility rights recognized. Kawehnoke residents would like freedom of movement while traveling from Kawehnoke to Cornwall as well. We will burn medicine at 8am so I would like you to remind everyone to come with peace on his or her minds. We are doing this to make things better and more peaceful for ourselves and the future generations in Akwesasne," stated Aaron Swamp.

Everyone is welcome to join this peaceful protest and encouraged to bring their signs and food to share in a potluck meal afterwards.
