2015-2016 AKWESASNE HEATING ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne would like to inform the community that the Akwesasne Heating Assistance Program will once again be offered for the upcoming 2015-2016 winter months.

The application process is open to Akwesasronon who reside under the jurisdiction of Mohawk Council of Akwesasne, one per household. Applications can be submitted beginning Tuesday, October 13, 2015 through Friday, November 27, 2015 at 4pm.

The final deadline will be Friday November 27, 2015. There will be no exceptions after the deadline date, as the fuel distribution will commence. As per Mohawk Council Resolution 2015/2016 - #137, the heating assistance amount will be $400.00 dollars per eligible household. Please note, if you are an Elder aged 60 years and older, the Elder Heating Assistance Program provides $600.00 dollars per eligible household.

Individuals that submitted an application must provide a copy of the heating bill for the heating source that you would like paid. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS; the bill must accompany your application. Please ensure the name on your bill matches the name on the application. Individual checks will not be processed. Once approved, your name will be provided to your heating source provider and your allotment will be credited to your account.

Applications will be accepted starting Tuesday, October 13, 2015 through November 27, 2015 at the following locations:

Tsi Snaihne-Iohahi:io 8AM – 4PM (until November 20th)

Kawehno:ke-A’nowara’ko:wa Arena 8AM – 4PM (until November 20th)

Kana:takon-Kanonhkwatsheri:io Health Facility

Community Support Program Office 8AM-4PM (until November 27th)

Please note, final application dates will be from Monday to Friday 8AM-4PM, November 23-27, 2015. Only at the Community Support Program (welfare) office at the Kanonhkwatsheri:io Health Facility in the village of Kana:takon.

EACH THURSDAY ON NOVEMBER 5, 12, 19, the Community Support Program (welfare office) will remain open till 6pm each of these three (3) dates.

SATURDAY-NOVEMBER 7TH SWEET GRASS MANOR-KANA:TAKON. 8AM TO 4PM

SATURDAY-NOVEMBER 14TH A’NOWARAKO:WA ARENA-KAWEHNO:KE.

8AM TO 4PM

SATURDAY-NOVEMBER 21ST SNYE REC. 8AM TO 4PM

Monday to Friday November 23rd to the 27th between the hours of 8am to 4pm will be the final week for heating assistance applications at the Community Support Program (welfare) office located at the Kanonhkwa’tsheri:io Health Facility in the village of Kana:takon.

YOUR BILL MUST ACCOMPANY YOUR APPLICATION AND WILL NOT BE RETURNED. PLEASE PROVIDE A BILL (OR COPY) UPON APPLYING FOR YOUR HEATING ASSITANCE.

REMINDER: APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AFTER 4PM FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 27, 2015. NO EXCEPTIONS!
